An event dedicated to the March, 31 - Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis was held at State Migration Service
The memory of the victims of the genocide was honored with a minute of silence.
At the event Deputy Chief of the State Migration Service, III rank state migration service counselor Parviz Musayev informed the audience about the aggression policy and genocide committed by the Armenian nationalists against our people at different periods. He noted that Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis is one of the bloodiest pages_old in the history of the twentieth century. It was also mentioned that the policy of genocide and aggression has been pursued by the Armenian nationalists against our people for more than two hundred years. He touched upon the importance of commemorating this incident regularly and delivering it to the international community, as well as provided information about the activities realized by the state. Especially the Decree of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev signed on March 26, 1998, on "Genocide of Azerbaijanis" shed light on the dark pages_old of the history. This Decree revealed the realities occurred many years ago, renewed the memory of the people and set them back to their historical roots. He brought to the attention of the participants that, the Order of the President Ilham Aliyev signed on December 30, 2009, on “the establishment of the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex” is a significant step towards informing world community about the Azerbaijani realities.
Later, Nazim Mustafa, a Ph.D. in History and the chief of Department of the President Library brought the facts of the mass genocide against Azerbaijanis to the attention of the participants. He added that the genocide of Azerbaijanis was carried out with particular cruelty in Baku, Shamakhi, Guba districts, Karabakh, Zangazur, Nakhchivan, Lankaran and other regions of Azerbaijan. In these areas, the civilian population was massively exterminated, villages were burned and cultural national monuments were destroyed and obliterated. At the event, he spoke about Armenian terrorism and its history, “Dashnaktsutyun” Party, a great contributor in the realization of March genocide, expanded activities towards the idea of a "Great Armenia", the policy of ethnic cleansing against the Azerbaijanis. March Genocide is a proof of hatred and hostility that Armenians bear against Azerbaijanis. This hostility and Armenian nationalists policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide from time to time against our nationals continues today, as well. Another fact supporting the sustainability of the criminal policy of Armenia, in the 20th century alone the Azerbaijanis were subjected to genocide and ethnic cleansing committed by Armenian nationalists four times - in 1905-1907, 1918-1920, 1948-1953, and finally, in 1988-1993. He stated that destruction of cultural monuments in the occupied territories, ethnic cleansing and genocide against our people is an integral part of Armenian separatism and terrorism policy.
The importance of commemorating the victims of March 31 Genocide and enlightening the younger generation with the historical realities was once again underlined at the event.
Later the documentary film was demonstrated to the participants.
