An event on “Fight against illegal migration and eradication of statelessness” was held

Representatives of city, town and village administrative territorial units, foreigners and stateless persons, as well as members of municipalities and society participated at the event organized on theme “Fight against illegal migration and eradication of statelessness” in Zardab which falls within the service area of Yevlakh Regional Migration Department.

At the meeting information on services and service locations rendered by State Migration Service such as registration of foreigners and stateless persons upon place of stay, extension of their temporary staying period in the country, as well as issuance of permits for temporary and permanent residence, adoption, revocation and restoration of citizenship, establishment of citizenship and determination of refugee status, granting work permits and extending existing ones for carrying out paid labor activity was given. Besides, successful results of policy accomplished by state regarding the protection of rights of foreigners and stateless persons in our country have been analyzed.

Later measures taken against illegal migration by Service were talked about. It was noted that only during the November 1855 cases concerning infringement of requirements of administrative legislation by foreigners and stateless persons without observing rules of stay, temporary and permanent residence in the Republic of Azerbaijan have been revealed as a result of relevant measures taken towards prevention of illegal migration.  Lost documents of 17 foreigners for temporary or permanent residence on the territory of Azerbaijan were replaced with new ones, the residence of 190 persons in the country was legalized, decisions were made on 1260 foreigners to leave the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 48 hours and on 388 foreigners to be removed in administrative order from the country.

Information which was given on complex projects implemented by State Migration Service during the year in order to eradicate statelessness met with interest by participants. It was brought into attention that for substantially implementing the activity of Service regarding citizenship issues, establishment of person’s citizenship to the Republic of Azerbaijan was determined as a duty of Service according to Decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on February 11, 2015. At the event requirements of “Rules on establishment of person’s citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan” approved by the decision of Cabinet of Ministers №84 dated from March 18, 2015 were explained as well.

At the end questions interested the participants were answered.

At the mobile service organized in the end of the event documents were received from 3 persons on establishment of citizenship and application from 1 person, questions of 20 persons on migration legislation were answered, as well as list of documents required for establishment citizenship was presented to 5 of them.
