Awareness raising event and mobile service were conducted in Imishli

Awareness raising event on “Legalization of foreigners and stateless persons illegally residing in the Republic of Azerbaijan and eradication of statelessness” was held with participation of foreigners and stateless persons, workers of educational institutions, representatives of public and local executive power, heads of departments and enterprises, employees of law-enforcement bodies, as well as employees of registration and identification document group of Region Police Division at Heydar Aliyev Center in Imishli city which is included in the service area of Shirvan regional migration department.

Considering that main purpose of the event was public awareness on the migration field broad information on legislation was provided.

The activity of State Migration Service was discussed at the event which was attended by more the 300 persons. It was noted that application of 67.648 foreigners on registration upon places of stay was received by the Service only in September. As well as infringement of requirements of administrative legislation by 2908 foreigners without observing rules of stay, temporary and permanent residence in the Republic of Azerbaijan have been revealed. Lost documents of 15 foreigners for temporary or permanent residence were replaced with new ones. Residence of 202 persons in the country was legalized. Decisions were made on 2109 foreigners to leave the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 48 hours and on 582 foreigners to be removed in administrative order from the country.

9.148 applications on extending temporary staying period, granting temporary and permanent residence permits, adoption, revocation and restoration of citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as determination of citizenship and refugee status, granting work permits for carrying out paid labor activity and extending period of existing work permits were received from foreigners and stateless persons by Service during the month.

Regarding the question on existing temporary staying period it was stated that temporary staying period of foreigners and stateless persons arriving in the Republic of Azerbaijan can be extended up to 60 days. Foreigners and stateless persons should submit necessary documents for extension of temporary staying period in the Republic of Azerbaijan at least 3 business days before the expiration of their temporary staying period. During the event warning letters were submitted to 12 foreigners and stateless persons illegally residing in the service area of Shirvan regional migration department.

Later mobile service was organized. List of documents to apply for establishment of citizenship of Azerbaijan was presented to 6 persons. 4 persons living with invalid documents were advised to apply for changing passports or obtaining laissez-passers to the embassy of the country of citizenship in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as 1 person was recommended to obtain birth certificate from local registration office and then to apply to regional migration department. Documents were received from 1 person on establishment of citizenship.
