State Migration Service held the next events on the occasion of Human Rights Day
The next events on topics such as human rights and freedoms were held in the regions included in service area of regional migration departments according to the “Plan of Actions” approved by Chief of State Migration Service in the frame of human rights month which continued from May 18 to June 18 on the occasion of 18 June – Human Rights Day.
At the event on “Importance of raising awareness of migration processes stakeholders on their rights and freedoms in prevention of illegal migration” held in the building of Yevlakh State Drama Theater and organized by Yevlakh Regional Migration Department with the participation of public members of the region, as well as foreigners and stateless persons discussions were conducted on attention demonstrated towards protection of human rights in our republic. Attention was drawn to continuation of legal reforms for more efficient protection and ensuring of human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Moreover, the steps taken for improving legislation in migration sphere were mentioned. Efficient results of series of events held by State Migration Service for promoting legislation, raising awareness of the public, as well as foreigners and stateless persons were underlined.
It was emphasized that comprehensive work has been done for organization of identification of persons illegally residing in our country, as well as their documentation. During the speeches it was also stated that State Migration Service is carrying out serious activities in the sphere of fight against statelessness in the Republic of Azerbaijan according to the requirements of international conventions to which our country is a party to. It was stated that activities are continued in the frame of UNHCR campaign “To end statelessness in 10 years” to which the Republic of Azerbaijan acceded for the purpose of raising awareness in the sphere of fight against statelessness and resolving problems arising from determination of legal status of these persons, as well as strengthening cooperation for efficient protection of their rights.
It was brought to the attention that State Migration Service will further continue activities on raising awareness of migration processes stakeholders on their rights and freedoms in order to provide convenient and legal residence of foreigners and stateless persons in Azerbaijan.
The public members of the region, foreigners and stateless persons participated in the event on “Multiculturalism is state policy and life styles in Azerbaijan” which was organized by Lankaran Regional Migration Department at Heydar Aliyev Center functioning in Lankaran as well.
At the event detailed information was provided on the essence of human rights, international and domestic standards. It was mentioned that necessary activities are successfully carried out by State Migration Service guided with principles of respect to human and citizen rights and freedoms, rule of law and humanism. It was stated that tolerance in relation to each other and equal rights of all the nations living in our country which has been historically multicultural and respected human rights has become cornerstone of the state policy. It was emphasized that respect to customs and traditions, faith and culture irrespective of race, language, religion is the main essence of multiculturalism, as well as our country has made significant contributions to tolerance traditions, intercultural and inter-civilizational values.
