State Migration Service continues awareness raising events
Broad awareness raising event was held at the district cultural house in Zagatala which is included to service area of Shaki regional migration department with participation of foreigners and stateless persons, workers of educational sphere, representatives of public and local executive bodies. Comprehensive measures taken by State Migration Service as a result of attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev in order to ensure convenience of foreigners or stateless persons visiting our country were emphasized at the awareness raising event. Migration processes occurring in the world, migrant crisis happening in Europe were discussed, achievements attained in the field of fight against illegal migration in our country was dealt with, and explanatory conversation on novelties in migration legislation was conducted. Service employee stated effective results of steps taken in the direction of elimination of statelessness in our country. It was requested from local executive bodies to assist for applying to the Service for documentation in case those persons are identified. Explanatory conversation was conducted related with “Rules on establishment of person’s citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan” approved with March 18, 2015 dated decision No 84 of the Cabinet of Ministers. Necessity for obtaining temporary residence permit in compliance with the law especially by foreigners or stateless persons, who are students of secondary schools and importance of applying for establishment of those students’ citizenship were emphasized.
Following the awareness raising event mobile service was organized. 319 out of 360 persons participating in the event held utilized opportunities of mobile service. Documents were received related to establishment of citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan by 220persons, acquisition of the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan by 2 persons, issuance of temporary residence permission by 2 foreigners and stateless persons. As well as permission cards for temporary residence on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan to 3 persons and reference on establishment of citizenship to 27 persons were given. Moreover, list of documents for application related with establishment of citizenship, issuance of permits for temporary, and permanent residence, as well as work permits was presented to 65 persons.

In Shaki, event dedicated to registration of foreigners and stateless persons upon place of stay was held with participation of more than 50 representatives of hotel, sanatorium, rest home, guest house, camping, tourist base located within the service area of the regional migration department. It was noted that foreigner or stateless persons intending to stay in the country for more than 10 days should get registered upon place of stay within 10 days. According to Article 21 of Migration Code for this purpose, the management of the hotel, sanatorium, rest home, guest house, camping, tourist base, hospital or other similar places or the owner of the apartment or other residential area where the foreigner or stateless person stay, in a word the receiving party should submit application for registration upon place of stay and copy of the passport or other border crossing document of that person to the relevant executive authority through online services on the official website of State Migration Service (www.migration.gov.az), or in person to the regional migration departments within 10 days after arrival of the person in the country.
Later on explanatory video instruction on online registration of foreigners and stateless persons upon place of stay was demonstrated.
Information was given on activity of Appellation Council of State Migration Service which was established for the purpose of providing transparency and objectivity in the area of reviewing complaints of physical and legal persons engaging in entrepreneurship activity and protection of persons’ rights and interests protected by the law in this area.
Requirements of Administrative Offences Code which entered into force on 1st of March of the current year were broadly explained, as well.
