On June 16 meeting was held with the representative of the Republic of Austria  

Perspectives of bilateral cooperation were discussed at the meeting between Chief of State Migration Service II rank state migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev and Liaison officer of Federal Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Austria on Georgia and Azerbaijan Karlheinz Josef Gortano. Steps taken in recent years in the direction of development and expansion of friendly relations and cooperation between two countries were dealt with. Attention was drawn to the perspectives of relations between our countries in migration sphere.

Touching upon achievements attained in Azerbaijan, as well as highly ensured stability and security under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev F.Nabiyev appreciated the entrustment of organization of Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe which will be launched tomorrow to Azerbaijan after grandiose sports event such as European Games as the acknowledgement of achievements of our republic in socio-political, socio-economic and cultural spheres by the international community.          

Stating that fundamental works have been done in our country in the field of migration processes regulation and management Service Chief added that as a result of attained achievements Azerbaijan has transformed from country of origin to the country of transit and destination. Legislation in the field of migration is improved year by year, high level protection of the rights and freedoms of foreigners and stateless persons is ensured in Azerbaijan.

Later on discussion were held on migration and migrants in the contemporary world, migrant crisis in Europe.

Opinion exchange was conducted on implementation of “Agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union on the Readmission of the Persons Residing without Authorization”, as well as launching negotiations on signing “Implementing Protocol of the Agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union on the Readmission of the Persons Residing without Authorization”.

Liaison officer of Federal Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Austria on Georgia and Azerbaijan Karlheinz Josef Gortano expressed his gratitude for warm welcome.

Other issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting as well.
