An event dedicated to 31st March-Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis was held at State Migration Service  

After the commemoration of the memory of genocide victims with one minute’s silence, the report of first deputy chief of the State Migration Service, III rank state migration service counselor Vali Naghiyev on March genocide was listened. He spoke about ethnic cleansing, genocide and aggression policy executed by Armenians against our nation from time to time. He noted that massacre of Azerbaijanis, being subjected to repression, deportation and expulsion from their homes are one of the most tragic and terrible pages_old in the history of twentieth century.

V.Naghiyev stated that during the years of 1918-1920 Armenians inflicted reprisals to Azerbaijanis, burned cities and villages, killed children, women, old people with unexampled cruelty and vandalism besides Baku, Guba, Shamakhi, Kurdamir and Lankaran, also in the territory of Shusha, Iravan provinces, Zangazur, Nakhchivan.  During that period only in Shusha, Javanshir, Jabrayil and Zangazur 75 Azerbaijani village were destroyed, more than 200 settlements were devastated in Iravan and Ganja provinces. Ten thousands of Azerbaijanis were killed with the most brutal methods, people were forced from their motherlands.

It was brought into attention that political appraisal was given to events committed by Armenians with the Decree of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev signed in March 26, 1998. This Decree became program document for forming solid national memory in modern and future generations on genocide committed against Azerbaijanis in twentieth century, giving right political and juridical appraisal to these events in the world, preventing such cases to repeat them once again. This is the reflection of national memory to tragic events happened in the history of Azerbaijan people and statehood in last century.
