Colleagues of State Migration Service met with foreign students
Migration legislation was broadly discussed at the meetings conducted as a continuation of awareness raising events for foreigners and stateless persons in our republic on the eve of the 9th establishment anniversary of State Migration Service.
Foreign students at Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry were explained the functions of State Migration Service implementing the competences of a single authority upon “one-stop-shop” principle on regulating migration processes. It was pointed out that the legalization of stay and residence of foreigners and stateless persons visiting our country is a requirement of legislation. The results gained in fight against illegal migration were touched as well. Importance of following migration procedures by every foreigner visiting Azerbaijan were stressed in order for them not to become an illegal migrant
At the awareness raising event conducted with the students of Azerbaijan Medical University participants were comprehensively informed about implementation of state policy on migration in our country. Later on it was emphasized that registration of foreigners and stateless persons intending to stay in the country for more than 10 days should be done within 10 days after entering the country via applying regional offices of SMS in person or online. At the meeting the rules on issuance of permission for temporary residence in case of existence of grounds determined by legislation were also clarified.
At the meeting organized at Qafqaz University the key discussion subject was the amendments to the Administrative Offences Code came into force on March 1st 2016. Besides, at the meeting were talked about administrative liability determined for not undertaking measures on registration and de-registration of foreigners and stateless persons upon place of stay and for violating the rules of stay, residence or transit passage through the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan were talked about.
Students expressed gratitude for the meeting. The student of Azerbaijan Medical University from Nigeria, Daniel Egoiko stated: “Currently I am first year student. The colleagues of State Migration Service visited our university, informed us about the Migration Service and responded our questions. How to get temporary residence permit, how to apply State Migration Service and other similar questions were clarified. We are highly satisfied with this attitude and services of State Migration Service”.
Second year student of Qafqaz University from Mozambic Shakira also expressed her satisfaction with the event. She concluded her words stating that “Every year representatives of Migration Service visit our University to hold such meetings. They keep us updated on the amendments on migration legislation. This is very important for the students like us. I appreciate that”.
