On February 17, meeting was held with the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria in our country at State Migration Service  

At the meeting with Ambassador of Austria in our country Axel Wech cooperation opportunities in migration sphere between Austria and Azerbaijan were discussed.

Firstly, chief of State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev touched upon the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Austria. Service chief pointed out that as a result of achievements gained in Azerbaijan under leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev, including provision of socio-economic progress, stability, security at high level has changed our republic into country of transit and destination from country of origin. F.Nabiyev brought into attention with concrete facts creation of progressive model in the sphere of regulation and management of migration processes in our country while Europe faces migrant crisis. He noted that as a result of Armenian aggression Azerbaijan faced with 1 million refugees and IDP’s flow in the end of 80s and beginning of 90s of last century. He stated that the aggression is still being continued and touched upon measures taken by Azerbaijani Government in order to solve problems of people who live as a refugee and IDP.

Later Service chief talked about relevant procedures regarding migration in country. He also gave information about facilitation of registration upon place of stay of foreigners and stateless persons, grounds and durations of their residence in the country, issuance of work permits and application of other envisaged norms. It was noted that all the aforementioned are the example of care and attention of Azerbaijan state to foreigners and stateless persons who come to our republic.

F.Nabiyev emphasized that last year 20 billion dollar was invested in Azerbaijan economy from all sources and 11 billion of this was foreign investment. It indicates that Azerbaijan remains as an attractive country for foreign investors.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria in our country Axel Wech talked with satisfaction about rapid development, construction works carried out in Azerbaijan and expressed the interest of the country represented by him to expand bilateral relations. Diplomat touched upon cooperation opportunities in the field of migration between Azerbaijan and his country.

At the meeting opinion exchange was carried out on problems of Austrian companies and businessmen related with migration legislation of Azerbaijan and other topics of mutual interest.
