Training was held on “Improvement of referral mechanism of asylum”

Objective of the training in the frame of Asylum Systems Quality Initiative in Eastern Europe and South Caucasus project was to contribute to increasing capacity, knowledge and practice of border officials and other law-enforcement bodies’ representatives working at Heydar Aliyev International Airport and involved in asylum/migration issues with the support of Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan in cooperation with UNHCR Office in Azerbaijan, Ombudsman and State Migration Service.

Sessions of the training was led by the employees of UNHCR, Ombudsman and State Migration Service.

It should be mentioned that Azerbaijan is one of the 6 countries participating in Asylum Systems Quality Initiative in Eastern Europe and South Caucasus project which was launched in April of 2013. The project is implemented by UNHCR and aimed at improving asylum procedures and protection of refugees in 6 countries.
