Opening ceremony of Lankaran Regional Department of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Opening ceremony of Lankaran Regional Department of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held in Lankaran city on November 20, 2009. State Migration Service Chief Mr.Arzu Rahimov, Head of Lankaran city Executive Power Mr.Suleyman Mikayilov, chiefs of law enforcement agencies of Lankaran city, Service employees, representatives of community and mass media participated at the ceremony.

Firstly, the ceremony participants laid the fresh flowers at the foot on the monument to Great National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the central square of the city and paid homage to the Genius Person.

In his opening speech Head of Lankaran city Chief Executive Power Mr. Suleyman Mikayilov briefly spoke about the history of State Migration Service, its activities and the success achieved during the short time. Expressing satisfaction feelings about the opening of Lankaran regional department of State Migration Service, Head of Executive Power also informed that, opening of such a department in the South region of the Republic of Azerbaijan would be helpful for the solution of migration problems.

State Migration Service Chief Mr. Arzu Rahimov mentioned that, as a result of successful policy started by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and continuing by President Ilham Aliyev Azerbaijan had become the only leading country in the region.

Recent years, necessarily rapid social- economical development, expending of the international communications in the area of power engineering and transport, at the same time, geopolitical position of the Azerbaijan Republic has become the cause for the increase of migration flows, in this point implementing the migration policy for the suitable national interest from the point of view development secure and safety of the country and on the base of odd the migration regulating system. 

“Law enforcement body” status was granted to State Migration Service by the Decree dated April 8, 2009. Mentioning thus Mr. A.Rahimov, expressed his thanks fullness to President Ilham Aliyev for special care and attention concerning to the improvement of the management mechanism of migration, including State Migration Service activities. Service Chief emphasized that, to provide the rest of the person applying and not to overcome a great distance from regions to apply to regional Migration Service as well as with the purpose of broadening activity of work forming service of the regional department of the organization is continued successfully. Referring to the fact of opening of State Migration Service, regional departments – Yevlakh, Shirvan departments in October last year Mr. Arzu Rahimov informed about detention center for illegal immigrants and other regional departments buildings being constructed.

At the end of his speech Service Chief congratulated all state migration service staff on regarding to the important day and mentioned that it would be written to the history of the State Migration Service with Letters. Mr. A.Rahimov hopes that, Lankaran regional department as a branch of State Migration Service will fulfill its tasks and responsibilities on time. After cutting the symbolic ribbon the ceremony participants were acquainted with the administrative building of regional department of State Migration Service in Lankaran and work condition created there. Besides Lankaran the services will cover Bilasuvar, Jalilabad, Masally, Yardimly, Lerik, and Astara regions and the inhabitants of these regions would benefit from the service. In short, the foreigners and stateless persons in the region may apply to the Lankaran regional department of State Migration Service who are willing to extent permission for temporary staying period and permission temporary permanent residence as well as to obtain work permit and with the refugees and citizenship issues in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.  

Administrative regional department building constructed with the modern suitable demands consists of 15 work rooms. Department computer net has straightly joined the Unique Migration Information System of State Migration Service.  

The building has been provided with modern equipments.
