Round table was held at the State Migration Service

    Round table with the representatives of 15 foreign countries' embassies and the head of IOM (International Organization for Migration Baku Office) was held in the State Migration Service on April 8, 2009. The main purpose of this event was to inform the diplomatic representations of foreign countries functioning in the Republic of Azerbaijan and through their intermediary foreigners temporary and permanently residing in the country about recent amendments had been made in migration legislation within the frame of Presidential Decree on “Application of the “Single Window” Principle in migration management processes signed on March 4, 2009.
    In his speech State Migration Service Chief Mr. Arzu Rahimov stressed that as a result of economical reforms and successful policy pursued by the head of the state Mr. Ilham Aliyev living standards of population had raised and the number of foreigners coming to our country have increased year-by-year due to the rapid development in all spheres.
    Underlining adoption of necessary normative legal acts to strengthen the state control on migration process, implementation of some institutional and organizational measures Service Chief Mr. Arzu Rahimov noted that foreigners and stateless persons coming to our country up to day were compelled to apply to several state bodies for extension of staying period in the country, obtaining permissions for temporary and permanent residence and registration.
      Mr. Arzu Rahimov drew participants' attention to the significance of the decree on “Application of the “Single Window” Principle” signed by the head of the state Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Service Chief also stressed that the present decree serves to improve migration management mechanism and to simplify the procedures of grating permissions to foreigners and stateless persons entering the Republic of Azerbaijan for lawful residence and engaging in labour activity, and of their registration for the place of residence, as well as to ensure transparency in this sphere.
      It was given comprehensive and explanatory information on demands of the “Single Window” Principle applied from June 1, 2009.
      At the end of the round table the questions interested the guests were answered.
