Chief of the State Migration Service met with the the Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration for Europe and Central Asia
Vusal Huseynov, Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor, met with Arthur Erken, the Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Europe and Central Asia who is visiting our country to participate in the 3rd Ministerial Conference of the Almaty Process and Troy Dooley, Head of the Representation of the IOM in Azerbaijan,.
Welcoming the guests sincerely, Vusal Huseynov provided information about Azerbaijan’s migration management system as well as the regional and global projects and initiatives in which our country participates in the field of migration.
He expressed satisfaction with the productive cooperation established with the international organizations, emphasizing that the IOM is one of the key partners of our country in the field of migration.
Vusal Huseynov highlighted the support provided by the IOM in organizing a series of events within the framework of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Almaty Process, focusing on human mobility and climate change. He specifically emphasized the role of the Regional Training Center on Migration in strengthening relations and deepening regional cooperation among migration authorities of Central Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Partnership countries.
Mr. Arthur Erken, expressing his gratitude for the cordial meeting, highly appreciated the chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Almaty Process and congratulated the country on the completion of its two-year tenure. He stated that they will spare no effort in further developing the existing relations.
During the meeting, discussions were also held on other issues of mutual interest.
