Chief of the State Migration Service met with the new Head of Representation of the International Organization for Migration in our country

Vusal Huseynov, Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor, has met with the newly appointed Head of the Representation of International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Azerbaijan, Troy Dooley.

Congratulating T. Dooley on his appointment, Vusal Huseynov wished him success in his activities and expressed his satisfaction with the efficient and close cooperation established between the State Migration Service and IOM over the years. The Chief of Service highly appreciated the contributions of the IOM Representation in Azerbaijan to the development of relations and partnerships with the Organization as one main international partners of our country in migration management.

Vusal Huseynov noted that IOM has supported the efficient management of migration in our country through a number of projects and initiatives implemented in various fields related to migration. He emphasized that joint projects on promoting legal migration, preventing irregular migration, as well as increasing knowledge and skills in this area, have been successfully carried out, and shared his views on new directions with which existing cooperation can be strengthened.

The Chief of Service noted that the project supporting the establishment of the Regional Training Center on Migration within the framework of cooperation with IOM has been successfully implemented. He also emphasized that further development of the Center is currently one of the main priorities.

Expressing his gratitude for the sincere meeting, Troy Dooley, the new Head of the IOM Representation in our country, in turn, emphasized that the State Migration Service is one of IOM's main partners in our country. He stated that during his tenure, he would spare no effort to further develop existing relations and noted the importance of implementing joint projects in the field of migration to expand cooperation.

The implementation of joint activities as the current chair of the Almaty Process and Champion country for the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, as well as other issues of mutual interest, including the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change to be held in our country this year, were also discussed.

The meeting was also attended by Amr Taha, representative of the Regional Office for Southeast Europe, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia of the International Organization for Migration.
