Meeting between the Chief of the State Migration Service and the Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration held

Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Vusal Huseynov has met with the delegation led by Ms. Ugochi Daniels, the Deputy Director General of the International Migration Organization (IOM).

Vusal Huseynov, the Chief of the Service, expressed his satisfaction with the effective cooperation established with IOM, which is one of the main partners in the field of migration, as well as emphasized the importance of a number of projects and initiatives that significantly contribute to the further development of relations with the organization. In particular, he underlined the measures implemented jointly in the direction of ensuring the orderly and legal management of migration in our country, providing humanitarian aid to vulnerable migrants and strengthening the potential in this field.

The Chief of the Service noted that the work done so far within the “Supporting the Establishment of a Regional Training Centre on Migration in Azerbaijan” Project is a clear example of effective cooperation between the State Migration Service and the international organization.

Stating that Azerbaijan will host the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 29) in the region for the first time this year, Vusal Huseynov stressed the importance of expanding and strengthening mutual relations between the State Migration Service and the International Organization for Migration in order to ensure sustainable development in the field of climate change and migration.

Expressing her satisfaction with the cordial reception, Ms. Ugochi Daniels highly appreciated the joint cooperation and emphasized the importance of relations in the field of migration.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on the development perspectives of mutual cooperation.
