Trainings on protecting the rights of migrants started in Nakhchivan
The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is implementing the project "Support to the Implementation of the Mobility Partnership with Azerbaijan (MOBILAZE-2)" in our country. Within the framework of the project, trainings are organized regularly in order to increase the knowledge and skills of employees of state authorities working in the field of migration.
The next training dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and June 18 - Human Rights Day in Azerbaijan on "Ensuring the rights of vulnerable migrants. Migration and asylum management. Monitoring mechanism" was organized in Nakhchivan by the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Sabina Aliyeva, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, employees of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and international experts also participated in the event. The speakers stressed that special attention was paid to ensuring human rights and freedoms during the period when National Leader Heydar Aliyev was the head of our independent state.
In his speech, Anar Khudiyev, the acting chief of Nakhchivan Regional Migration Head Department, III rank state migration service counselor, touched on the importance of the projects implemented within the framework of joint cooperation, according to the Cooperation Agreement signed between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and ICMPD. He drew attention to the regular participation of the representatives of the Ombudsman's Office in the events carried out within the scope of the mentioned project. A.Khudiyev noted the importance of continuous cooperation in the further improvement of migration management in our country.
Then relevant trainings were conducted by experts on the subject. At the training, local and international trainers made presentations on the role of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman in protecting the rights of vulnerable migrants, promoting and protecting the rights of migrants and asylum seekers, and other topics, then exchanged of views with the participants was carried out.
It should be noted that within the framework of the event, the participants will visit the Detention Center for Irregular Migrants in Nakhchivan city and get acquainted with the conditions created there.
