Chief of the State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva
Vusal Huseynov , chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor congratulated Ms. Vladanka Andreeva on her appointment as UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan and wished success in her activity. Informing the guest about the activities of the State Migration Service, the chief of the Service stressed that the basis of migration management, including the period of COVID-19, is to ensure the comfort of foreigners through transparent and flexible procedures. As a result of the principle of continuous improvement of provided services, the State Migration Service has achieved the highest result among government agencies for the 4th time in a row on the "ASAN Service Index". Noting that the liberation of our lands from occupation as a result of the 44-day war has created new realities in our country and the region, Vusal Huseynov said that these processes will affect to the dynamics of migration, as well as create new opportunities for possible cooperation.
The chief of the Service expressed that Azerbaijan, along with Portugal and Luxembourg, as one of the leading “Champion Countries” is interested in active participation in the International Migration Review Forum 2022 which will serve as a key intergovernmental global platform to discuss and share best practices on the implementation of the Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Legal Migration,. It was noted that there are perspectives for expanding cooperation within the UN Migration Network, which was established to coordinate the implementation of the Global Compact, as well as bring together specialized UN agencies.
Expressing gratitude to the chief of the Service for the warm welcome and congratulations, Ms. Vladanka Andreeva highly appreciated the cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Nations, emphasized the importance of further developing relations. Thanking for the inclusion of migrants in the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Government's vaccination plans, the UN official noted that Azerbaijan is an example to many countries with this step.
