Awareness raising conference held in Shamkir

State Migration Service organized conference on “Prevention of illegal migration, protection of migrants’ rights and implementation of their obligations” in Shamkir which is included in the service area of Ganja Regional Migration Department.

Authorized employees of Shamkir District Executive Authority, representatives of the district upon city, settlement and village administrative area, foreigners and stateless persons, as well as representatives of municipalities and the society participated in the event.

Reports on “Responsibilities envisaged by the legislation for prevention of illegal migration and rights and obligations of illegal migrants during the enforcement of the legislation” and “Services provided by State Migration Service for implementation of rights and obligations of foreigners and stateless persons on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan” were delivered at the event.

Authorized employees of Ganja Regional Migration Department gave information about activity directions carried out by State Migration Service. Explanations were given on services, such as registration of foreigners and stateless persons upon place of stay, as well as extension of the temporary staying period, issuance of temporary and permanent residence permits, acquisition, restoration and revocation of citizenship, determination of citizenship affiliation and refugee status, issuance of work permits for carrying out labour activity and extension of the existing work permits, and service centers.

It was pointed out that during 11 months of 2017 38020 persons were issued temporary and 2752 persons were issued permanent residence permits.

Furthermore, successful results of the policy pursued by the state in terms of protection of the rights of foreigners and stateless persons in our country were analyzed.

Later information was given on the activities carried out by the Service against illegal migration.     

Information on complex projects implemented by the State Migration Service for eradication of statelessness during the year was met with interests by the participants. Comprehensive explanation was provided on the “Rule of establishment of a person’s affiliation to the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan” approved with the Decision No. 84 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated from March 18, 2015.

It was stated that 573 persons, inculding 378 stateless persons were admitted to citizenship of Azerbaijan.

At the end quetions interesting participants were responded.

On the same day mobile service was carried out by SMS in Shamkir. Mobile service was rendered to 21 applicants. Temporary residence cards were presented to 2 persons, references on establishment of the citizenship affiliation were issued to 13 persons, 6 persons’ applications with various context were responded in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.
