Nakhchivan: the 7th anniversary of the establishment of the State Migration Service was celebrated
The event was held on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the establishment of the State Migration Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Initially, the event participants laid flowers at the magnificent monument of the founder and architect of the independent Azerbaijan state, outstanding statesman Heydar Aliyev in the main square of the city and the memory of the National leader was cherished. Afterward, the participants came to the Heydar Aliyev Museum and got familarized with the exhibits that reflect the life and varied statehood activities of the Great Leader. At the event held in the State Migration Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Chief of the Service, migration service counselor Shahin Nabiyev noted that the State Migration Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has been established in accordance with the Decree of the Chairman of the Ali Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated May 31, 2010. In addition to all the areas, today special attention and care are also given to the development of the migration system in the autonomous Republic. The administrative building of the Service, which meets modern requirements is functioning. These are the results of the work, so that migration processes in the autonomous republic is carried out in compliance with the requirements of the law. Since the last period, the Service has set up its activity directions on the regulation of migration processes, their registration, implementation of migration policy within the territories of autonomous republic. Each of the applications to the State Migration Service on permits for temporary and permanent residence in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as issuance of work permits for carrying out paid labor activities in the territory of autonomous republic, determination of citizenship and refugee status, as well as extension of temporary staying periods have been separately investigated in accordance with the requirements of legislation and the relevant decisions have been made.
Delivering speech at the event Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev congratulated all the employees of the Service and wished them successes in their future works. Firudin Nabiyev noted that socio-economic development of our country, its geopolitical position, measures taken in protection of human rights and freedoms in different parts of the world has led to an increase in the number of migrants. Today, Azerbaijan has become an attractive country for foreign investors and migration processes have become a dynamic process. Considering all of these, the State Migration Service was established and the legal framework in this field was created. Now, in our country, as well as in the autonomous republic the modern information technology is applied in this field, foreigners and stateless persons, as well as the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, may apply to the Service in an electronic form. In the past 7 years, the measures taken for the formation of the State Migration Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, provision with the modern building that meets modern requirements, creation and improvement of a legal framework are of great importance. This once more confirms that the statehood of Azerbaijan is built on solid grounds. Despite the short period of its existence, the State Migration Service of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic successfully implements duties that were set forth, employees of the Service confidently protects the interests of the state, at the same time, provides foreigners to carry out activities on legal grounds in autonomous republic.
Congratulating the staff, Chief of the State Security Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Major-General of Fazil Alekperov stated Nakhchivan has been in the blockade for many years. Therefore, the arrival of migrants in the autonomous republic may seem surprising. But today's reality is that within the background of Azerbaijan’s economic development, the number of migrants coming from neighboring countries to the prosperous Nakhchivan autonomous republic is growing every year. This in return created the need for the establishment of migration measures in Nakhchivan. The legal framework adopted in this field in our country has ensured implementation of duties set forth in the field of migration in autonomous republic in the legal order. Fazil Alekperov expressed his confidence that the employees of the service will fulfill their duties properly in the future as well, and will act in compliance with the legislation on management of migration processes in the autonomous republic.

Chief of the State Security Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Major-General Fazil Alakbarov was awarded the Jubilee Medal - "10th anniversary of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2007-2017)".
A group of employees for their productive activities were presented diplomas and valuable gifts, and another group of employees was awarded special ranks.
The event participants watched the film on “Migration policy: governance and development" prepared by Nakhchivan State Television.
