Foreigners and stateless persons staying in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan have to observe declared purposes of their entry and leave the territory of the country after the expiration of the defined period.
Temporary staying period of foreigners and stateless persons, who enter the Republic of Azerbaijan upon visa, cannot be more than the staying period indicated on the visa, while temporary staying period of those who enter the Republic of Azerbaijan under visa-free regime, cannot be more than 90 days except for the cases envisaged by the international agreements that the Republic of Azerbaijan is a party to.
If temporary staying period of foreigners and stateless persons in the country is not extended, they are not granted temporary residence permit, or no application for the extension of temporary staying period or issuance of temporary residence permit has been received by the end of that period, they have to leave the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In case of termination of person’s citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who holds citizenship of other state (states) along with citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan, that person have to leave the country within 30 days from the date of receipt of the official information about it or have to apply to the relevant executive authority for obtaining a permit for temporary residence in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in case of existence of relevant grounds according to Article 45 of this Code. During the processing period of such an application the person’s temporary stay in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan is considered legal.
Upon legal requests of the employees of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, foreigners and stateless persons have to present their identity documents, as well as the documents certifying their legal stay or residence in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
