The main goals of the “Migartion School” project, implemented since November 2018 at the initiative of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, are to enhance the knowledge of youth who will work in various fields regarding the migration, to arouse their interest in this field, to instill professional skills, and to inform them about public administration. Since 2021 “Migration School” the project has been being implemented within the Regional Training Center on Migration with the joint organization of the State Migration Service and the Representation of the International Organization for Migration in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Within the framework of the project, participants get acquainted with the management and regulation of migration processes, the formation of migration policy, international organizations operating in this area, as well as approaches to migrants of various categories. The main goals are studying the social, political and economic effects of migration on society, as well as increasing the theoretical and practical knowledge of interested parties in this field through awareness on international trends and challenges, and supporting migration research. The “Migration School” project, which lasts for 6 months, provides trainings on various fields of migration. The persons selected for participation acquire general information on migration, management at the international level, the experience of the Republic of Azerbaijan in this field, as well as theoretical knowledge about the legal and institutional framework. During the program, the participants get opportunity to be familiarized with the work of the relevant structural units of the State Migration Service, as well as participate in other trainings and events organized by the State Migration Service and its international partners. At the end of the program, certificates are given to the participants who have successfully completed the training. The program is intended for those who are studying in the senior courses of higher education institutions or at the master's level, or who have just graduated from higher education in the fields of law, political science, international relations, regional studies, geographic studies, history, oriental studies, European studies, American studies, translation, journalism, tourism, public administration and sociology, state and public relations, organization and management of civil service. The trainings are conducted by the employees of the State Migration Service specialized in relevant fields, representatives of the project partners of the Migration School, local and international trainers, and representatives of international and non-governmental organizations. The selection of participants consists of two stages. At first stage, the information in the relevant registration form is filled in and submitted. Those who have passed the initial selection are invited for the interview. The main criteria for selection are outlook, logical thinking and foreign language skills.
