An event was held on "migration policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the context of global migration processes" in Yardimli region

An awareness raising event on migration legislation was organized by the State Migration Service in Yardimli region with the participation of representatives of executive bodies of urban and rural areas, entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of the society.

At the event, it was noted that under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev the dynamics of political, economic and social development, successful realization of large transnational energy and transport projects, the stability and prosperity in the country has turned Azerbaijan into a leading country in the region.

It was brought to the attention that, migrants often choose to live in economically highly developed countries. Thus, it was revealed via the Unified Migration Information System that during the first quarter of 2017, 399.429 foreigner and stateless person made 557.628 entries to and 398.295 foreigner and stateless person made 146.920 exits from the territory of the country. During the first quarter, in accordance with the periods of stay in the country, 146.920 foreigner and stateless person had applied for registration upon a place of stay.

Afterwards, the lecture was delivered on "migration policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the context of global migration processes.” It was mentioned that in accordance with the relevant Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan since 1 July, 2009 “one-shop principle” is applied by the State Migration Service, which implements competencies of unified state authority upon this principle. This serves regulation of migration processes on the basis of unified and flexible procedures and facilitation of documentation.

A number of services are rendered by the State Migration Service at Azerbaijani brand - “ASAN service” centers. Applications for permits for temporary or permanent residence in our country to foreigners and stateless persons, work permits to engage in paid labor activities, as well as identification of affiliation to the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan are received at the ASAN service centers.

Moreover, information was also given about the effective results of the works done in the fight against illegal migration and measures taken on eradication the cases of statelessness.

It was stressed that achievements gained by the Service have been possible only with the care and attention of the President Ilham Aliyev.
