Memory of distinguished ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva was commemorated at the State Migration Service

On April 28, a group of employees of the State Migration Service (SMS) visited the grave of a notable ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Mrs. Zarifa Aliyeva at the Alley of Honor on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of her birth.

Afterwards, participants of the event viewed the exhibition dedicated to the life and activity of prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Mrs. Zarifa Aliyeva.

At the event held in SMS, Deputy Chief of the Service, III rank state migration service counselor Parviz Musayev spoke about the life of Mrs. Zarifa Aliyeva, who was born on April 28, 1923, in the family of prominent statesmen and public figure Aziz Aliyev, in Shahtakhty village of Nakhchivan. He also emphasized on Mrs. Aliyeva’s humane qualities as a wonderful mother, as well as an outstanding scientist who had a large contribution to ophthalmology. He noted that Zarifa Aliyeva was a faithful companion, loyal friend and reliable ally of a great personality, National leader Heydar Aliyev, who was a founder of independent Azerbaijan and devoted all his life to the prosperity of the country and nation. Deputy Chief mentioned that Mrs.Zarifa Aliyeva will always remain in the history as a mother who gave a birth to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

Other speakers talked about various aspects of life and activities of Mrs. Zarifa Aliyeva, stressed the importance of contributions made to Azerbaijan medicine.

It was mentioned that Mrs. Zarifa Aliyeva defended her doctoral dissertation on “the state of the vision of employees of some chemical institutions in Azerbaijan” in the field of ophthalmology. Professor Z. Aliyeva, created the first specialized research laboratory to study the professional pathology of the vision and practically laid the foundation of the new direction in science - “professional pathology” for the first time in the world. She was awarded the Prize named after Academician M.I.Averbakh of the Academy of Medical Sciences of USSR for the researches she conducted in the field of professional pathology of the vision. In addition to professional pathology, she also conducted researches in other relevant fields of ophthalmology. 200 scientific works, 14 monographs, 12 rationalization proposal of the prominent scientist still remain relevant today.

The memories, high humane qualities and valuable scientific activities of the prominent ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva will be always remembered for her valuable contribution to the school of ophthalmology, her wide range activities for young staff, kindness and generosity.

 

At the end of the event, the participants watched a film about academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
