Awareness raising events held in Ismayilli and Shamakhi were of interest

On the eve of 10th anniversary of establishment of State Migration Service the awareness raising event was held in Ismayilli district included to the service area of Aghsu regional migration department with participation of representatives of relevant state bodies, civil society, employers and entrepreneurs, citizens, foreigners and stateless persons

The official of the Service delivered information at the event about the adjustment of migration legislation to international experience, facilitation of procedures, as well as opportunities of e-services rendered by SMS. He noted that the services rendered by SMS via 11 electronic services which were integrated to “Electronic government” portal ensure the comfort for applicants, as well as efficiency and transparency. The novelties applied in migration sphere aims to raise satisfaction level of served contingency, as well as foreigners and stateless persons. It was pointed out that today 8 regional departments of the State Migration Service operate at full capacity. It was highlighted that each foreigner and stateless person arriving in the country has to legalize his/her stay and residence on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

It was brought into attention that the State Migration Service which has modern service facilities and professional personnel gained confidence of foreigners and stateless persons with its transparent and efficient activities through 10 years.

The other awareness raising event was held in Shamakhi city. The addendums and amendments to the migration legislation, the arrival of foreigners in the Republic of Azerbaijan, departure and temporary stay, as well as the rules on use of foreign labor force were discussed at the event.

The event participants were informed that  unless otherwise is envisaged by the Law and the international agreements which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a party to, foreigners and stateless persons enjoy equally all of the rights as the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan while staying in the Republic of Azerbaijan. A progressive legislative base was established for ensuring easy legal arrival of foreigners in our republic, their stay, residence, work and study. According to the Migration Code foreigners and stateless persons who obtained permit for temporary or permanent residence in Azerbaijan can enter the Republic of Azerbaijan and return back to the Republic of Azerbaijan without a visa on the basis of their passports or other border crossing documents and the temporary or permanent residence permits issued by the State Migration Service . However, in cases where foreigner violated declared purposes of arrival in the country during his/her previous stay in the country, as well as has been involved in administrative liabilities twice or more in the last 3 years for violating the migration legislation and for giving falsified information about himself/herself or on the purpose of his/her travel, during the application for entry to Azerbaijan, his/her entry to the Republic of Azerbaijan is prohibited for 5 years. It was pointed out that the provision of rights and liberties of foreigners should not contradict the national interests of Azerbaijan.
