The novelties in migration legislation are being promoted in high education institutions  

On the eve of 10th anniversary of establishment of State Migration Service the enlightenment and awareness raising events for representatives of society, students, teachers, foreigners and stateless persons on novelties in migration legislation in cities and districts within the service area of regional departments of the Service are being held.

The comprehensive and dynamic development, protection of tranquility, security and tolerance gained in independent country in a short period of time with the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the increase in recent years in the number of people willing to visit, live, work and study in our republic were pointed out at the meeting organized at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction. At the same time the privileges granted for foreign students in Azerbaijan in migration sphere were touched upon. It was noted that, the amount of state fee charged for foreign students for the issuance of temporary residence permit on the territory of our republic and for extension of its period for up to 1 year is 40 manats. However this amount for adult foreigners and stateless persons is 120 manats.

The information was delivered about the procedures of issuance of work permits for foreigners and stateless persons for engaging in paid labor activity in our republic at the meeting. It was mentioned that the professors, teachers and lecturers invited for delivering lessons at high education institutions of the country are not required to get work permit according to the Migration Code as well.

Another meeting from this series was organized at the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry. Dynamic development of our country which gained great success in recent years, novelties conducted in the direction of regulating migration processes in Azerbaijan as a legal and secular state were talked about at the event. Amendments made in migration legislation with the initiative of the President Ilham Aliyev were brought into attention. It was noted that each foreigner or stateless person arriving in the country has to legalize his/her stay and residence on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The information about the procedures of registration upon place of stay, issuance of temporary and permanent residence, as well as work permits for foreigners and stateless persons and migration processes in general was of interest of academicians and students working and studying in both education institutions.
