Awareness raising event held in Aghdash district

Conferences, workshops, events and meetings are organized, as well as mobile services are conducted by the Service regarding migration procedures in cities and districts of the Republic to raise awareness of foreigners and stateless persons arriving our country on the occasion of 10th anniversary of the establishment of State Migration Service.

One of the series of events was held in Aghdash district which is included to the service area of Yevlakh Regional Migration Department.

At the meeting held with participation of public representatives, foreigners and stateless persons competent employee of the Service gave detailed information about acceleration of migrant flow to country as a result of socio-economic development of Azerbaijan, works done towards regulation of migration processes in the Republic, measures taken against illegal migration, several amendments made to migration legislation.

It was noted that as a result of crisis in the world economic decline in several states forced people to migrate from their motherlands to other countries with decent living condition. Great Leader Heydar Aliyev’s quote “People live where they feel better. Where they can live better, they do it. They live where they can obtain better facilities for their families. These are all natural human qualities” was brought into attention of event participants and Azerbaijan’s confident entry to the list of such countries was proudly emphasized. It was mentioned that successful continuation of Great Leader’s policy by our respected President Ilham Aliyev, stability and tranquility established in the country, socio-economic development, successful realization of grandiose transnational energy and transport projects turned Azerbaijan to the leader of the region and our republic has become an attractive place for foreigners.   

It was stated that State Migration Service which successfully implements unified state policy in the field of migration in the country tries decently to cope with the duties set forward within its competences envisaged by legislation. The applications of foreigners and stateless persons on registration upon place of stay, extension of their temporary staying period in the country, as well as issuance of permits for temporary and permanent residence, acquisition, revocation and restoration of citizenship, establishment of citizenship and determination of refugee status, granting work permits and extending existing ones for carrying out paid labor activity received by the Service which bears law-enforcement body status are reviewed in accordance with requirements of legislation and relevant decisions are made. As well as, active fight is conducted against illegal migration by the entity. It was informed that during only January of this year 1667 cases concerning infringement of requirements of administrative legislation by foreigners and stateless persons without observing rules of stay, temporary and permanent residence in the Republic of Azerbaijan have been revealed, lost documents of 17 foreigners for temporary or permanent residence were replaced with new ones, residence of 204 in the country was legalized, decisions were made on 1121 foreigners to leave the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 48 hours and on 325 foreigners to be removed in administrative order from the country. In general, the number of irregular migrants was minimized over the last period by ensuring execution of relevant decisions.
