Commemoration event on the 25th anniversary of Khojaly genocide at State Migration Service
Firstly the memory of massacre victims was recalled at the commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Khojaly genocide at State Migration Service.
The first deputy chief of the Service, III rank state migration service counselor Vali Naghiyev broadly informed about Khojaly genocide and the reasons of its occurrence, large-scale bloody military crimes committed against the peaceful, innocent residents by Armenians during the occupation of the city. He stated that Armenians used to be hostile towards our nation, they committed different sabotages and massacres against Azerbaijan by violating norms of international law. At the night from 25 to 26 February 1992 Armenian armed forces attacked to a helpless city – Khojaly which was in blockade with heavy equipment, tanks and large-caliber weapons. It was noted that the civil residents of Khojaly were murdered, subjected to unprecedented tortures only because of being an Azerbaijani.
It was emphasized that Khojaly genocide went down in history as a grave crime committed against not only Azerbaijani people, but also the whole civilization. It was stressed that Milli Majlis adopted a special decision “on Khojaly Genocide” on February 24, 1994 with the initiative of Great leader Heydar Aliyev, the document covers the reasons of the incident in detail. At the same time informing the world community about the truth related to Khojaly Genocide, exposing Armenian aggressors in the international arena were set forward as a significant task. “Justice for Khojaly” propaganda and agitation campaign has been conducted with the initiative of vice president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva for the purpose of informing world community about Khojaly genocide since 2008. As a result of successful implementation of the campaign a number of countries recognized the massacre committed in Khojaly as genocide. It was noted that the memory of the genocide victims was always honored by our people and state, every year numerous conferences, exhibitions, marching and commemoration event were organized in different countries of the world including Azerbaijan.
