State Migration Service organized an event in Zagatala

State Migration Service organized an event with the topic of “Multiculturalism in Azerbaijan - integration of foreigners in the society and conditions created for them” on December 21 in Zagatala which falls within the service area of Shaki Regional Migration Department.

At the event held at Heydar Aliyev Center functioning in Zagatala with participation of colleagues from law enforcement bodies, representatives of city, town and village administrative territorial units, foreigners and stateless persons, as well as members of municipalities and society it was highlighted that Azerbaijan has a multicultural society, multiculturalism has become a lifestyle for Azerbaijanis and suitable conditions are set for integration of foreigners and stateless persons coming and living here as a logical outcome of these values.  

It was noted that migration processes are an integral part of globalized world. Purpose of organizing such events is to directly respond to questions of Azerbaijani citizens, as well as foreigners and stateless persons, to provide flexible solutions for their applications and to listen their comments and suggestions. Because Azerbaijan has become attractive for foreigners thanks to its geopolitical position, socio-economic development. stability, importance given to multicultural values, tolerance. Explanatory talks were held about eradication of statelessness, rules on use of foreign labor force, fight against illegal migration at the meeting, as well.  

Foreigners and stateless persons arriving in Azerbaijan which has turned from country of origin to country of transit and destination should get registered upon place of stay if they wish to stay more than 10 days on the territory of the country. For registration application can be made etiher in person to regional migration departments – Baku Regional Migration Department at Ataturk avenue 189, Baku, Ganja Regional Migration Department at Uzeyir Hajibayov street 274b, Ganja, Yevlakh Regional Migration Department at Heydar Aliyev avenue 99a/4 in Yevlakh, Lankaran Regional Migration Department in Goyshaban village of Lankaran city, Aghsu Regional Migration Department at M.A.Rasulzada street in Aghsu, Shaki Regional Migration Department at M.A.Rasulzada avenue 12 in Shaki, Khachmaz Regional Migration Department at Heydar Aliyev avenue in Khachmaz  and Shirvan Regional Migration Department at S.Zeynalov street 33 in Shirvan or online through official webpage of the Service, as well as via e-government portal. Moreover, Service functions in extending temporary staying period of foreigners and stateless persons, granting temporary and permanent residence permissions, adoption, revocation and restoration of citizenship, establishment of citizenship and determination of refugee status, granting work permits and extending existing ones for carrying out paid labor activity.      

At the event it was brought into attention that as a result of farsight of President Ilham Aliyev adequate migration policy strategy was defined for flexible and deliberate solution of migration problems in our country when migration issues in the world was not pressing like it is today. Legislative base ensuring easy arrival, stay, residence, labor activity, education of foreigners and stateless persons in our republic with legal basis was developed and State Migration Service with normative legal acts meeting international standards, contemporary service conditions and professional human resource potential was formed.

Once again it was noted that every foreigner or stateless person arriving or staying in our country should legalize his/her stay or residence on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan with a doubt.
