Event held at State Migration Service on the occasion of Universal Children’s Day
An event was held at State Migration Service with participation of children growing in the families obtained refugee status in the Republic of Azerbaijan and their parents within the framework of children rights month declared in our country with regard to the holiday set on the occasion of adoption of UN Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20 1989. Firstly, the attendees of the event organized at Baku city Detention Center of Illegal Migrants got acquainted with the facilities established in the Center. Children leisure room arouse interest of participants who visited this place after getting familiarized with living rooms, library, praying room and warehouse where the clothes and other things which are given freely to those in need are kept.
The meeting was continued around a round table later on. At the event discussions were held about the significance of the “National Action Program of the Republic of Azerbaijan on increasing the efficiency in the protection of human rights and freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan” approved with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated from December 27 2011 and progressiveness of the Law of the Azerbaijan Republic on the Rights of Children which was adopted in 1999 and envisages the provisions of UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. All of these were appreciated as a reflection of importance given by Azerbaijani state to the issue of children rights. Attention attached to the rights of children growing in foreign families with refugee status by State Migration Service was brought into attention.
The meeting was continued around a holiday table arranged in the dining hall of the Center.
Children and parents who did participate the event expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani state for this attention and for organizing such events which serve to strengthening activities directed to ensuring safety and joy of children.
The children were given presents at the end.
