Meeting held with Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in our country at State Migration Service

Chief of State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev met with Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Valdas Lastauskas.

F.Nabiyev gave information on Azerbaijan’s economy and achievements attained by our country during the meeting where discussions were held on perspectives of widening relations and cooperation between our countries in migration area. He brought to the Ambassador’s attention fair position of our republic in Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Service chief emphasized that Agreements signed between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Lithuania on various fields at different times enabled consolidation of existing traditions of strategic cooperation and establishing new ones.

Service chief informed about amendments made in legislative acts regulating citizenship issues in our country. He also stated that though dual citizenship promises wide range of rights, it has been taken into consideration in the legislation of Azerbaijan as it causes liability from the viewpoint of both statehood and personal obligations. 

Talking about the development of the migration management system in our republic, the measures taken for increasing efficiency of regulation of migration processes by the state Service Chief stated that date of foreigners’ and stateless persons’ entry to the country, their place of residence and work, as well as the date of exit from the country is kept under full control via effective activity of Unified Migration Information System.

F.Nabiyev informed about Azerbaijani experience on provision of all conditions for migrants to enjoy their rights, proper and efficient use of labor resources, prevention of irregular migration processes and elimination of its negative effects.

Assurance was expressed over efficient future of outcomes of discussions on citizenship, visa and registration issues between the two countries at today’s meeting.

Ambassador Valdas Lastauskas stated rising development of current relations between the two countries and expressed that he will make efforts for further enlargement of this cooperation.

The diplomat noted with satisfaction that Azerbaijani community actively participates in public, political, economic and cultural life of the country that he represents.

At the meeting exchange of opinion was conducted on other issues of mutual interest on cooperation in the field of migration between Azerbaijan and Lithuania.
