A meeting dedicated to the results of 9 months of 2016 held at State Migration Service
On October 15, meeting dedicated to the results of 9 months of 2016 was held at State Migration Service.
Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev made a speech with report at the meeting held with the participation of heads of structural units and subordinating bodies of the Service. Chief of the Service talked on achievements attained in our country under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-chief of Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev in accordance with development strategy established by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev which is going to celebrate 25th anniversary of state independence. F.Nabiyev stressed that despite of economic crisis in the world in general, 9 months of 2016 were successful from the point of strong socio-political stability formed through economic development of the republic, increase of the influence of Azerbaijan in international community, expansion of relations with foreign countries. Measures taken by State Migration Service in order to host a number of international events by Azerbaijan at high level and to organize facilitated entry and exit of foreigners and stateless persons coming to our republic regarding these grandiose projects, to solve operatively the issues regarding migration were emphasized at the meeting.
Service chief touched upon the activity implemented towards improvement of migration legislation in terms of ensuring convenience of foreigners and stateless persons.
Attention was drawn to successful implementation of substantial action plan for eradicating statelessness in our country.
International relations of the Service were analyzed in detail at the meeting.
Talking about bilateral and multilateral discussions in the framework of high-level summit of UN General Assembly on “Addressing large movements of refugees and migrants”, as well as 67th session of UNHCR Executive Committee in Geneva, Chief of the Service mentioned the decisions adopted as a result of 19th meeting of member states of the Council of Heads of Migration Bodies of Commonwealth of Independent States which was held in Baku.
It was mentioned that during the reporting period 547.123 person were registered upon place of stay relevant to their staying period in Azerbaijan, which has turned into a country of transit and destination from country of origin in terms of migration in recent years.
79.049 applications on obtaining stay and residence permits on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, granting work permits for carrying out paid labor activity, determination of refugee status, adoption, revocation and restoration of citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as determination of citizenship were received by State Migration Service during the reporting period. Each application was investigated in accordance with the requirements of legislation and relevant decisions were made.
During the 9 months of this year decisions were made on 14.482 foreigners and stateless persons to leave the territory of the country within 48 hours.
Service chief mentioned that at the conference of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socio-economic development of the 9 months of 2016 and duties put forward, President Ilham Aliyev gave concrete instructions for ensuring socio-economic development of the republic. F.Nabiyev stated that every migration employee must organize his/her activities on serious disciplined environment and according to the demands of the age in order to timely and professionally fulfilling duties put forward.
Later reports of the heads of structural units were listened to.
At the end of the meeting Service chief expressed his assurance that as a result of care and attention of the President Ilham Aliyev State Migration Service which implements duties of single state agency on “one-stop-shop” principle will continue to fulfill duties and tasks such as ensuring satisfaction of applicants, contribution to development of economy of the country, protection of security of our state and internal labor market with great professionalism as an effective and mobile entity which reflects management, regulation principles related to migration.
