Chief of State Migration Service met with representatives of International Organization for Migration
Chief of State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev talked about activities carried out in the frame of cooperation with IOM at the meeting with Ms. Argentina Szabados, IOM Regional Director on South Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He mentioned significance of the recent meeting and discussion with Lacy Swing Director General of the organization in Geneva. Service Chief shared his opinions on migration processes management and fight against illegal migration.
Firudin Nabiyev stated that digitalization of the services rendered by state agencies pursuant to Decrees and Orders signed by President Ilham Aliyev is successfully implemented by State Migration Service and the Service attaches great importance to application of innovative methods.
State of implementation and results of “Consolidation of migration and border management capacities in Azerbaijan” project financed by European Union which aims to contribute efforts for efficient management of procedures and processes arising from emigration, immigration, transit and asylum issues were discussed.
It was mentioned that “payment of fines imposed by State Migration Service via “ASANPAY” payment system” software has been developed within the framework of the project which was launched in 2014.
Service Chief appreciated this software as a step forward towards implementation of tasks set out in the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on additional measures on development of tourism in the Republic of Azerbaijan with a view to ensuring rapid passage of foreigners and stateless persons at border check points.
Later presentation of the developed software was held. Head of the Mission of International Organization for Migration Serhan Aktoprak, Deputy Chief of State Migration Service Parviz Musayev, Deputy Chairman of State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ulvi Mehdiyev, Head of the EU Representation in Azerbaijan Malena Mard, BP Vice-president on Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli global projects organization Cathal Kelly and IOM Regional Director on South Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia Argentina Szabados delivered speech at the ceremony.
Later employee of State Migration Service visually presented operational capabilities of the software. It was informed that the software provides removal of the exit ban within 2 minutes after the payment of the fine is made via the system by the foreigner whose exit has been banned for committing administrative offence. It prevents loss of finance and time, as well as allows rapid passage of foreigners and stateless persons. The software operates in Azerbaijani, English and Russian.
At the end of the ceremony participants watched work of the software via “ASANPAY” payment system installed at the departures terminal of Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
