State Migration Service held public awareness events in Aghsu and Kurdamir districts

Procedures on granting temporary stay and residence, permanent residence, as well as work permits to foreigners and stateless persons and extending their period, liability for infringement of legislation were explained at the events organized by Aghsu Regional Migration Department with the participation of relevant state agencies, local executive authorities and municipalities, public representatives, education and healthcare workers. The competent employees of the Regional Department and Citizenship Issues Head Department of the Service gave detailed information on migration processes occuring in the world, migration policy of Azerbaijan state, measures taken towards eradication of statelessness in our republic.  

At the meeting foreigners and stateless persons were informed about conditions created under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in our country. Attention was drawn to high level protection of security and stability, successful reforms in the field of economy, continuance of large scale projects towards improving social welfare of population, model of tolerance in our republic. It was mentioned that all these factors have made Azerbaijan attractive for foreigners and stateless persons. It was emphasized that an excellent legislative base in the field of migration was timely established in our country, activities of headquarters and 8 regional migration departments of SMS, as well as modern Detention centers for illegal migrants in Baku city and Yevlakh at full capacity were provided as a result of care and attention of the head of state.  It was also mentioned that with the help of opportunities created by information-communication technologies 11 types applications of foreigners and stateless persons are received by SMS online too.

The works done by Service towards eradication of statelessness, information on meetings held in regions were met with interest by participants.

It was mentioned that the Republic of Azerbaijan acceded to UNHCR campaign “To end statelessness in 10 years” in order to eradicate statelessness. During the last period a number of measures have been taken and successful results have been obtained in this field.

It was informed that large awareness raising events jointly with local executive authorities were organized, explanatory talks were conducted in districts which are included in the service area of Aghsu Regional Migration Department, as well as in the majority of regions of the republic towards elimination and eradication of statelessness in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as legalization of persons in statelessness  and relevant measures towards documentation of stateless persons are being continued by State Migration Service.

It was brought into attention of representatives of local executive structures and education workers to help to organization of application of foreigners who do not have temporary or permanent residence permits in the country to State Migration Service regarding their documentation.
