State Migration Service held public awareness event in Dashkasan

Public members of the region, representatives of local executive authorities and municipalities, employees of educational sphere, entrepreneurs, as well as foreigners and stateless persons attended the event held in Dashkasan region which is included in the service area of Ganja Regional Migration Department. At the event which was held at Cultural Center of the Region detailed information was given on activity directions of the State Migration Service. It was stated that services rendered by State Migration Service – application for registration upon place of residence of foreigners and stateless persons intending to stay in the country for more than 10 days, issuance of permits for temporary and permanent residence, issuance of work permits for carrying out paid labour activity in the Republic of Azerbaijan by foreigners and stateless persons are received online as well. In general, information on 11 online services rendered by State Migration Service was met with interest. Furthermore, the procedure of establishment of the person’s affiliation to citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan which is carried out by State Migration Service was clarified.   

At the event it was underlined that our country has acceded to UNHCR campaign “To End Statelessness in 10 years” and State Migration Service is carrying out serious activities in the direction of the requirements of the international conventions in the field of fight against statelessness which our country is a party to. Regular measures are being taken for identification and documentation of the persons from this category settled in various regions of our country. Results attained in this field were brought to the attention with concrete facts.

At the end discussions were held on efficient results of activities carried out against illegal migration by State Migration Service. It was mentioned that as an example to this 5 organized groups which organized illegal migration of foreigners via Iran-Turkey-Europe channel by using the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan have been revealed and neutralized within 5 months of the current year. Moreover, it was emphasized that quite significant amount of work has been done for identification and legalization of the persons illegally resided on the territory of our country.  

Another employee of the Service familiarized participants of the event with the recent amendments in the migration legislation. Novelties in Administrative Offences Code which entered into force on March 1 of the current year were clarified.

At the end of the event questions were responded.
