Awareness raising event was held in Saatli  

In Saatli was held an awareness raising event for the purpose of promoting migration legislation, enlightening society on additions and amendments made to the legislation, eliminating statelessness and fighting against reasons causing this issues, as well as legalizing the persons’ residing in the country who are living without documents or registration.

It was mentioned that the participation of State Migration Service in citizenship issues was ensured with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated from March 6 2008.  It was stated that for timely and decently implementation of duties assigned to State Migration Service a number of meetings and explanatory discussions together with local executive authorities were conducted and relevant measures in direction of legalizing persons without documents were taken.  

It was also emphasized at the event that persons’ applications related to the establishment of citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan are received at State Migration Service, the Service’s regional migration departments or ASAN Service centers, and turnover of documents is conducted online. Broad awareness raising events conducted by State Migration Service in direction of preventing and eradicating statelessness, as well as legalizing the persons in statelessness status were highly appreciated by event participants. At the meeting the measures taken by SMS in compliance with the requirements of legislation regarding efficient usage of labor forces, protection of domestic labor market, raising efficiency of works done in regulating processes of labor migration and usage of foreign labor force were also touched upon. At the end of the meeting participants’ questions were responded.
