On April 8, meeting was held with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in our country at State Migration Service  

At the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of People’s Republic of China in our country Hong Jiuyin cooperation opportunities in migration sphere between two states were discussed.

At first, the measures taken in recent years towards development and extension of friendly relations and cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and People’s Republic of China were touched upon. The historical significance of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his meeting with the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, signing of documents on cooperation in various fields was noted. Attention was drawn to the perspectives of relations between our countries, increase on mutual visits of both countries’ citizens and influence of restoration of the Great Silk Route on these processes. Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev pointed out that as a result of achievements gained in Azerbaijan under leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev, including provision of socio-economic progress, stability, security at high level has changed our republic from country of origin into country of transit and destination. He mentioned that sound measures have been taken in our country in the field of regulating and managing migration processes. The legislation was enhanced, the application of registration upon place of stay of foreigners and stateless persons, grounds and durations of their residence in the country, issuance of work permits, as well as other envisaged norms was facilitated.

At the meeting attention was drawn to the urgency of topic on migration and migrants in the modern world; migrant crisis that happens in Europe was talked about. Service chief stated that as a result of Armenian aggression Azerbaijan faced with a huge migration problem - flow of 1 million refugees and IDPs in the end of 80s and early 90s of last century. He noted that the aggression is still being continued and touched upon measures taken by Azerbaijani Government in order to solve problems of people who live as refugee and IDP, as well as events recently happened in the frontline as a result of Armenian provocation.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China in our country Hong Jiuyin talked with satisfaction about rapid development of Azerbaijan, its influence to processes happening in the region, construction works which is carried out and expressed the interest of the country represented by him to expand bilateral relations. Diplomat touched upon cooperation opportunities in the field of migration between Azerbaijan and his country.

At the meeting Ambassador emphasized that Chinese companies and businessmen operating in our republic, as well as citizens of the People’s Republic of China have not faced any problems in the field of migration. Issues related with migration legislation of Azerbaijan and other topics of mutual interest were discussed, as well.
