Training course was held on “Refugee status determination procedure”

On February 16-18 training course on “Refugee status determination procedure” was organized by State Migration Service with participation of UNHCR Office in Azerbaijan. The course aimed to ensure reception and consideration of application for obtaining refugee status from foreigners and stateless persons in various regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in compliance with the requirements of 1951 UN Convention on the Status of Refugees, normative legal acts related to refugees, to increase knowledge and capacities of a group of SMS employees in this sphere.

The program of the training course was included topics on application of 1951 Convention, Migration Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On status of refugees and internally displaced person (IDPs)” dated from May 21, 1999, “Rules of consideration of application on granting “Refugee” status” approved with the Decree No 419 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated from November 13, 2000, as well as registration of Application Form, interview technique, gathering information on country of origin.
