Meeting with Ambassador of Georgia in our country at State Migration Service

Reminding kind neighborhood and friendship relation between Azerbaijan and Georgia throughout many centuries chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev brought to attention the formation of successful cooperation in various fields, as well as in the migration field between our strategically partner countries. Service chief noted successful results of effective discussion conducted during his previous meetings with the Ambassador of Georgia.

F. Nabiyev talked about latest amendments made in the legislative acts regulating citizenship issues in our country. He stressed the importance of latest amendments taking into account sufficient number of responsibilities of dual citizenship from the view-point of both statehood and personal liabilities, in spite of its pledge of wide scale rights.

Ambassador Teimuraz Sharashenidze stated that the existing relations between the two countries is developing steadilyand as an obvious example, the visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Georgia in recent days is of special importance for his country, and expressed his assurance that this visit will serve to further strengthen the relations between our states, as well.

The diplomat gave information on changes in the procedure of restoration and revocation of Georgian citizenship.

Later on significance of further strengthening efforts on eliminating statelessness in compliance with international documents - Conventions “Relating to the Status of Stateless Persons” dated from 1954 and “on Reduction of Statelessness” dated from 1961, to which both countries are party and taking preventive measures in line with the legislation in order to prevent the challenges that may arise, was emphasized.

Opinion exchange was carried out on other mutually interesting issues at the meeting, as well.
