Chief of the State Migration Service met with representatives of SOCAR and BP  

Chief of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, II rank state migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev, met with administration of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan and “BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) LTD’s” representation inthe Republic of Azerbaijan.

Head of “BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) LTD”, Mr. Gordon Birrell, mentioned with satisfaction that representation in Azerbaijan’s oil-gas sector is continuing at a high level, as well as gave information about development of the “Şahdəniz-2” gas field and preparation for geological exploration in shallow waters of the “Abşeron” oil deposit. It was stated that migration legislation is complied at the stage of continuing of the “Azəri-Çiraq-Günəşli” block’s operation, as well as construction of the “Şahdəniz-2”. Increasing the number of Azerbaijan citizens represented in transnational oil-gas projects on the basis of agreement on nationalization of the staff of the project signed in 2013 is kept on the center of attention on daily basis.

Service’s Chiefstated that the BP’s success and achievements through the past years are encouraging and the State Migration Service will further support in order keep the pace of the work in the same manner. The chief highly appreciatedBP, its contractors, as well as SOCAR representatives’ work regarding nationalization policy. He emphasized the importance of continuation of this tendency according to the annual plan and mentioned with satisfaction attention given to this process on daily basis. It was stated that the State Migration Service will further continue prompt and flexible approach to the process of involving high level and experienced foreign specialist to the projects in order to allow the work in oil-gas sector proceed according to the schedule. Mr. Nabiyev noted with satisfaction that the development of mutual relations,as well as everyday business contacts,contributed to resolution of arising technical problems.

 At the end of the meeting, despite the fact of further increase of the work in the future, the importance of the nationalization strategy was mentioned ones more. It was said that joint efforts will be continued by BP and SOCAR towardsrecruitment campaigns and organization of educational and training programs in order to supportprofessional development of local staff in oil and gas sector.
