Event related to International Children’ Rights Day was held at the State Migration Service

On November 20, event dedicated to holiday establishing by 1989 dated UN Convention on Children’ Rights was held in the frame of children’ rights month with participation of children growing up in families granted refugee status in the Republic of Azerbaijan. At the meeting held in Heydar Aliyev Museum of the State Migration Service it was mentioned that this holiday differs from previous ones. Because this year is also the 25th anniversary of admission of UN Convention on Children’ Rights.

At the event the importance of “National Program for Action to raise effectiveness of the protection of human rights and freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan” approved by December 27, 2011 dated Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and Law on “Children’ Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan” adopted in 1999 which reflects provisions of UN Convention on Children’ Rights was discussed. All of these were evaluated as a great example of importance given by the Republic of Azerbaijan to the children’ rights issue. It was mentioned with concrete facts that the issue of children rights growing up in foreign families granted refugee status is always in the spotlight of the State Migration Service – agency implementing state policy on migration sphere, carrying out law - enforcement authority status.

Children and their parents who were participated at the event expressed their gratitude to Azerbaijan Government for this attention and organization of such events aimed to strengthen activities that ensures the well – being of children.

At the end, presents were given to children.
