The two days training for the staff of the Refugee Status Determination (RSD) Department of the State Migration Service

Within the framework of the EU funded Asylum Quality Initiative Project (QIEE Project) UNHCR Azerbaijan is organizing two days targeted training on RSD Decision-Making for the staff of the Refugee Status Determination (RSD) Department of the State Migration Service (SMS) which will be held on 17-18 September 2014.

The training aims to build and expand capacity of the SMS staff to improve the quality of the national refugee status determination procedures with an overall objective to strengthen the protection of refugees and asylum seekers.

The representatives from the Moldovan Migration Service will also visit Baku for participation in the training session and exchange of experiences.

The Republic of Azerbaijan is one of the six countries participating in the Asylum Systems Quality Initiative in Eastern Europe and South Caucasus, which was launched in April 2013.  The two year project is funded by the European Union, co-funded and implemented by the UNHCR, focuses on improvement of asylum procedures and refugee protection in six countries. In addition to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the project covers Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
