Two-day training for the employees of the Detention Center for Illegal Migrants and Asylum Seekers ended

In the framework of Asylum Quality Initiative Project in Eastern Europe and Southern Caucasus countries, training was organized by Representative of UNHCR in Azerbaijan for the employees of Baku city Detention Center for Illegal Migrants and Asylum Seekers of the State Migration Service on April 17-18. The seminar aimed to expand capacity of Detention Center staff on international protection of refugees, as well as on minimum standards of registration of asylum seekers and work practice with people with special needs.

It should be noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan is one of the six countries attending the Quality Initiative Project in Eastern Europe and Southern Caucasus countries operating since April 2013. The two-year project is funded by European Union and UNHCR and implemented by UNHCR, it aims to improve asylum procedures and protection of refugees. Besides the Republic of Azerbaijan the project covers Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine as well.
