Series of events held at State Migration Service related with the 24th anniversary of 20 January

Event on the 24th anniversary of 20 January tragedy was held at the administrative building of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At first martyrs who sacrificed their life in the name of Motherland’s independence and territorial integrity were commemorated with one minute’s silence.

Then Deputy chief of the Service, III rank state migration service counselor Parviz Musayev made a speech on 20 January tragedy. He stated that 20 January tragedy entered the history of fight for Azerbaijan’s freedom and territorial integrity as a heroic date. On January 19-20 as a result of illegal dislocation of military detachments serving to reactionary powers unprecedented violence was perpetrated against peaceful people, unarmed persons were killed, wounded and got lost.

It was emphasized that bloody January tragedy was given comprehensive, adequate and detailed assessment during the period when Great Leader Heydar Aliyev ruled in independent Azerbaijan. The truth was delivered to international community with the help of specific facts. It was emphasized that steps are continuously taken by President Ilham Aliyev for strengthening position and role of our independent country, of which sons of Motherland dreamed and sacrificed their life for, in international relations system.

Documentary film “Bloody Baku” dedicated to incidents of 20 January was demonstrated, exhibition consisting of books, photos and paintings was viewed at the end of the event.

As a sign of respect and esteem to unforgettable memory of our martyrs, staff of the Service visited Honorary Alley and placed fresh carnations on the graves of Motherland’s sons and daughters who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s independence.
