UNHCR representative in the Republic of Azerbaijan- Dag Sigurdson visited State Migration Service

On January 16, 2013 chief of State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, III rank state migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev received representative of United Nations High Commission for Refugees in the Republic of Azerbaijan - Dag Sigurdson and delegation headed by him.     

Sincerely greeting the guests Firudin Nabiyev expressed his satisfaction over mutual cooperation between the entity which he led and the Representation, spoke about importance of the project “Asylum System Quality Initiative in Eastern Europe and South Caucasus” which is funded by European Union and planned to be applied in the current year. Firudin Nabiyev mentioned that it would be useful for employees of the State Migration Service to study practices of leading European countries in this sphere and expressed his assurance to work in close cooperation for fulfillment of obligations towards project implementation. Service chief also recalled his meeting with UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres during 63rd session of Executive Committee of United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) held in Geneva on October 1-5, 2012 and expressed his gratitude for attention towards delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

UNHCR representative in the Republic of Azerbaijan Dag Sigurdson thanked Service chief Firudin Nabiyev for reception and bilateral cooperation, as well as support towards application of aforementioned project and expressed his satisfaction over carried out reforms and positive results. Mentioning his concern over existing situation regarding refugees in a number of world countries the guest also spoke about attention and care demonstrated by President Ilham Aliyev towards refugees and internally displaced person in our country. He highly appreciated the initiative to provide such persons with apartments via state budget on the eve of new 2013 year. Later Dag Sigurdson expressed his assurance over future achievements in mutual cooperation condition.
