Chief of the State Migration Service met with the Head of the Representation of the International Organization for Migration in our country
Vusal Huseynov, Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor, has met with the Head of the Representation of International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Azerbaijan, Troy Dooley.
Vusal Huseynov spoke about the efficient and close cooperation established over the years between the State Migration Service and IOM, one of the main international partners of our country in migration management. V.Huseynov expressed satisfaction with the joint organization of a number of events on human mobility and climate change within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in our country. The Chief of Service emphasized that IOM’s “Climate Change and Human Mobility Pavilion” at COP29 serves as a vital platform for presenting innovative approaches to climate change and migration.
V.Huseynov draw attention to the support provided by IOM in a number of projects and initiatives implemented in our country in various areas related to migration, as well as the successful implementation of joint projects to improve knowledge and skills in this area. The activities of the Regional Training Center on Migration were noted as an example.
Expressing his gratitude for the sincere meeting, Troy Dooley, the Head of the IOM Representation in our country, emphasized that the State Migration Service is one of IOM's main partners in our country and congratulated the high-level organization of the COP29 event. He stated that he would spare no effort to further develop existing relations and noted the importance of implementing joint projects in the field of migration to expand cooperation.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting, including joint actions as a Champion country for the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and our country’s chairmanship of the Almaty Process, as well as preparations for the upcoming Ministerial Conference of the Process in Baku next year and the implementation of the second phase of the Regional Training Centre on Migration project.
