The 26th meeting of the Council of Heads of Migration Bodies of the CIS held

The Azerbaijani delegation led by Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Vusal Huseynov, took part in the 26th virtual meeting of the Council of the Heads of Migration Bodies of the CIS.

Chief of the State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov informed about the migration processes in the country in 2021 and the work done in this area during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chief of the Service noted that during the pandemic, the country's migration management was organized taking into account the principles of flexibility, transparency, efficiency and protection of human rights and freedoms and the recommendations of relevant international organizations. At the same time, he informed about the innovations implemented in the migration management of Azerbaijan to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on migrants, to ensure maximum comfort of migrants, to reduce administrative procedures as much as possible, as well as the measures taken to promote digitalization.

Speaking about the international relations of the State Migration Service, V.Huseynov informed the participants about the "Supporting the Establishment of the Regional Training Center on Migration in Azerbaijan" project, which is successfully implemented in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration. The Chief of the Service underlined that in 2021, Azerbaijan was included in the list of "Champion Countries" initiatives launched for the implementation of the Global Compact on Migration under the auspices of the UN Migration Network. He stressed that Azerbaijan's role in the "Champion Countries" will create a positive value and will serve as an effective model for other countries in the region in the management of migration.

Furthermore Chief of the of Migration Policy and Legal Support Head Department of the State Migration Service, III rank state migration service counselor, Vahid Gahramanov informed the participants about practices related to the digital transformation of document circulation in migration sphere of the State Migration Service and regulation of foreign labor migration.

The discussion was held around the issues on the agenda of the 26th meeting of the Council of the Heads of Migration Bodies of the CIS.
