The Chief of the State Migration Service met with the Head of the Representation of UNHCR in Azerbaijan

At the meeting, Vusal Huseynov, Chief of the State Migration Service, III rank state migration service councelor, noted that positive results had been achieved in the implementation of the commitments voiced by the government of Azerbaijan at the First Global Refugee Forum in Geneva in 2019. Speaking about the humanitarian assistance provided to refugees and asylum seekers during the COVID-19 pandemic, Vusal Huseynov also informed about the steps taken to improve the access of people from this category under the protection of the UNHCR to the legal labor market and the inclusion of refugees in the compulsory health insurance system. 

Furthermore, Chief of the Service also spoke about the victory of the mighty, victorious Army of Azerbaijan who is the triumphant of the Patriotic War.

Guido Ambroso, the Head of Representation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan talked about the benefits of the transition to e-services by the SMS during the special quarantine regime, highly appreciated the concessions granted to foreigners and stateless persons, assistance provided to low-income families from this category during the COVID-19 pandemic, prompt response to all requests of vulnerable groups, continuation of receiving applications for refugee status, as well as other important steps taken in this direction.

Mr. Guido Ambroso also spoke about the visits to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan together with the representatives of international media and the diplomatic corps, as well as international organizations. He said that he had witnessed the atrocities committed by Armenians for about 30 years in the Azerbaijani lands and destroyed cities and villages. He stressed that he was deeply shocked by the scene and sent information to the UNHCR headquarters about the facts he witnessed. He also said that they would contribute to the return of refugees and IDPs to their native lands after the reconstruction of the liberated Azerbaijani lands.
