Chief of State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov participates in Vienna Migration Conference

The delegation led by the Chief of the State Migration Service, III rank state migration service counselor Vusal Huseynov is taking part in the Vienna Migration Conference held virtually by the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) on November 16-19, 2020. Topic of the this year’s conference is dedicated to “Schengen, asylum reform and European migration diplomacy: has COVID-19 changed everything?”

Within the framework of the event a session on "Making labor mobility work for all - Perspectives from the Eastern Partnership" was held with the participation of the head of the State Migration Service, Vusal Huseynov. Regional Portfolio Manager for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of ICMPD Violeta Wagner, and Head of the Representation of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union Daniela Morari, also joined the discussions.

Providing information on opportunities of benefiting from labor migration Vusal Huseynov emphasized the possibility of achieving tripl-win through effective management of labour migration. He noted that, creating legal channels for labor migration and its facilitation is benefitial both for countries of origin and migrants, as well as, for destination countries.

Touching upon the cooperation with European Union in the sphere of migration Vusal Huseynov noted that Joint Declaration on Mobility Partnership signed between Azerbaijan and EU Member States is one of the main documents covering the most important areas of cooperation between the two sides in the field of migration. Vusal Huseynov also highly evaluated the work done by ICMPD in implementation of Joint Declaration.
