The kick-off meeting of “RESTART” project partners held in State Migration Service
The kick-off meeting of the partners of “Reintegration of Azerbaijani returners” project implemented jointly with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development has been held in the headquarters of the State Migration Service, in the framework of 5th meeting of the Working Group on Reintegration.
Representatives of the government agencies participating in the Working Group, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as the diplomatic representations of those countries in Azerbaijan, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) attended the event.
Kindly greeting the guests, Chief of the State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov mentioned the importance of this meeting, supporting reintegration of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan returned from other countries and increasing the effectiveness of the activities for solving their problems, as well as ensuring sustainable return while implementing the obligations taken by the Republic of Azerbaijan. Moreover, he underlined the activities carried out by the State Migration Service jointly with relevant government agencies on the persons who had been readmitted to the country.
Later it was dedicated to prepare the guidelines as the first stage for reintegration support, presentations of the participants were listened and the steps in the direction of successful implementation of the project were discussed at the event.
It should be mentioned that, the purpose of the “RESTART” project is to strengthen the capacity of government agencies and civil society institutions of Azerbaijan in order to facilitate sustainable return and reintegration of Azerbaijani nationals from EU Member states. There are four readmission agreements signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union, the Kingdom of Norway, the Swiss Confederation and Montenegro. Furthermore, the relevant measures are underway for signing the draft agreements on readmission with Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Pakistan, and Serbia.
