Chief of State Migration Service met with the UNHCR Representative in Azerbaijan

Chief of the State Migration Service (SMS), III rank state migration service counselor Vusal Huseynov met with the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan, Guido Ambroso.

At the meeting, V.Huseynov noted with satisfaction the establishment of close cooperation between the SMS and the Representation of the UN in Azerbaijan, as well as other institutions of the organization and talked about his meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi held in Geneva.

Providing information on the activities of the SMS, the Service chief stated that the SMS was interested in application of international practice in refugee status determination procedures.

The UNHCR Representative in Azerbaijan Guido Ambroso touched upon the effective cooperation between the SMS and the institution that he represented, as well as the perspectives of existing relations. He underlined the importance of the activities and achievements in the field of migration processes management in Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, the sides exchanged views on the first Global Refugee Forum (GRF) to be held this year and highlighted the significance of the forum in terms of positive experience exchange, as well.

At the meeting the sides exchanged their views on other issues of mutual interest, as well.
